In Ice God, William Massa leads his reader on a journey to the icy and frigid temperatures of Norway. We're introduced to Mark Talon, an ex Delta Force Operator on a mission of vengeance. From page one Massa shows why he's becoming one of the best indie author's out there. He fills this short story with interesting and developed characters--from Talon and his billionaire associate, to the satanic rock band members they are hunting half way across the world. Did I mention there's also a cute marketing woman named Kristin that Talon is trying to save? This girl can ski!Ice God moves like a bullet exploding from Talon's 9mm glock. And William mixes in just the right amount of action, suspense and character development. This is really impressive considering Ice God is technically a short story.I've read all of William's books this year and Occult Assassin may be the most exciting series he has planned. I can't wait for Occult Assassin #1.
Wow--Mr. Massa can write more action and excitement into a novella than I've seen in full-length books! Not surprising, given his other contributions to the reading world.Talon is a hit man, but not the usual gangland type. He is hired for one reason, and one reason only--to exterminate the occult influences in the world. If that means the elimination of certain human elements, then so be it.Women are disappearing around the world, and one man has noted the coincidental appearance of a certain death-metal band at the same time of these mysterious events. He has more than a suspicion or two, and so he brings in his hired gun, Talon. For reasons of their own, these two men have a formal alliance: with one man's money and influence, the other can get to wherever he needs to be.Once Talon is on the case, the action is non-stop, with a fast-moving plot that will keep you turning the pages until the end.Fans of Mr. Massa already know what to expect--an excellent read. This novella underlines those expectations--with a red line!
STORY REVIEW......This time out Talon is looking to stop a Black Metal musician from using a cursed relic in a ancient Norse ritual. Once again fighting evil to save the world with the help of his wealthy occult specialist friend. The North gods mythology and the cult was well written and researched by Mr. Massa. It added a interesting and important aspect to the story. It's a great short story. Well worth reading.AUDIO REVIEW......I found the narrator to be getting better and better as he gets more familiar with the authors style and the characters. Another delight to listen to. A book that author Bill Massa claims can be read before or after the first book in the series. Now, I hate to disagree with an author on his own creation, but this book should be read AFTER you've read the first one. It is shorter and leaves out a bit of our hero's reasons for doing things. So, just my two cents...read this second.Now then...the story is another strong one and just makes me anxious for the next one to come out. The action that you have been looking for is here. As in my review of the first book, this one just gets it right. No wasted words just to make it longer, no wasted time on things that do not promote the story. Mr. Massa has a formula that works and works well. Our hero's quest to continue to fight the dark forces that threaten our world is exciting and continues to offer "real world" action with the wonderful cross-over of dark fantasy. This is a genre that is quickly becoming Massa's personal playground.This one will serve you perfectly if you are looking for that quick afternoon read while waiting on the grass to grow just a bit more so you can mow it, or while you let the wife go shopping and you can enjoy the sunlight outside while waiting on her to buy more shoes she doesn't need.
This short novella follows the adventures of Mark Talon, a former soldier now dedicated to fighting the forces of evil and the occult. The story takes place in the frozen land of Norway where a woman is abducted and destined to sacrificed. Subsequently Talon is sent in to rescue her. Upon his arrival he finds he is fighting more than just a mere man, he is face to face with a supernatural being determined to destroy the world. Will he rescue the girl? Will he survive unscathed? You will have to read this book to find out.The book is well written and fast paced. The characters have some depth to them and are believable. The basic story line is a mix of real world, the occult and ancient Norse Gods. Overall a very enjoyable short book, I look forward to additional writings by this author. I recommend this book to those who enjoy action, adventure, thrillers mixed in with some supernatural science fiction.
This book was a nice balance between reality and what's lurking underneath.We follow Talon as he investigate the disappearance of eight women in Norway during winter. One thing that bugged me was the sunrise (and possibly sunset), you don't get that much sun in Bergen in the middle of winter, really, especially not early rising sun.Anyway, there is mountain climbing and skying and winter activity and a lot of snow in the mountain which was pretty cool. I also liked how the main character got his data and I would like to meet his source a bit more. Also the back story and detail on North gods cult was pretty detailed which gave a pretty awesome dimension to the story. I also loved the description of the antagonist even if I would have like more about him too.
