A fantastic book and my daughter loves it. My only complaint would be that the binding and the backboard to which the number pad is "affixed" needs to be a bit sturdier. Mind you, my daughter uses the book regularly and it took well over 5 months for her to bend the back board that holds the number pad. It (and the binding) was easily reinforced/fixed with some duct tape, but this is something to consider if you have a child that really puts an educational book through its paces (or if you use such books with classes full of children). We have other books from the "simple first words" series and they all break in the same way over time. But the books are so good that I don't mind the fact that I'll inevitably have to replace them since my daughter totes them everywhere and uses them just about every single day.
I bought this as a 1st birthday gift for my twins. The enjoy pressing the numbers and listening to the sound. Although they cannot read, I can help them and mimic the numbers while looking at the pictures. I would definitely recommend this for anyone that has a baby and is looking for challenging entry level learning!
LOVE these books!!! My son has a collection of them (numbers, words, colors) and played with them incessantly before he began to speak. I believe they were very helpful in teaching him how to say the words as he got to push the buttons himself (sometimes, much to my chagrin, repeatedly - like hundreds of times, over and over....) but he loved them and was so entranced that he wouldn't even get upset when I had to leave the room (for my own sanity)
I bought this for my 2 1/2 year old. What I like about this book are the bright colors and big pictures. My son is just learning how to count and it's great for that. We look at the pictures and count the objects together then he finds the number and presses it. What I REALLY don't like about it is the audio. The numbers are barely audible and it the speaker says it so fast you really can't understand it. I'm giving three stars because I bought this book specifically for the audio. But my kid loves it, and loves pressing the correct button and hearing SOMETHING.
I like this book, but because the sound quality isn't that great, it's not so good for teaching a toddler how to say the numbers. I also bought another "simple first words" book and it's the same sound quality. I don't think it's a defect, just how it's made. That said, I still give it three stars because the book is fun for my 22 month old daughter. It just no longer has the purpose I intended to use it for.
There's plenty of other books out there better than this. The woman's voice that says the numbers is very boring and monotonous. Why would any child be interested? I DON'T recommend this book. I'm just glad I didn't buy more from the series.Update: two months later and, for whatever reason, this is one of my daughter's (who's almost 2 yrs old) favorite books. So I'm upgrading the rating to 3 stars. She loves to look at the pictures and hear the numbers.
My daughter(1 year old) loves these books! The buttons are very easy to push, unlike most of the other books she has, where she keeps try and ends up getting frustrated with the book. She also loves the pictures, they use items that she knows. We highly recommend these books.
I keep this book in the car for my soon to be 2 year old son. He’s been enjoying learning his numbers and we make a game out of it during our drives. I ask him to find a certain number and I know whether he’s gotten it correct or not since it speaks the number. Great way to learn! Would recommend this book!
